Hey Holt Public!  Today, we honored social distancing protocols and held our 180th consecutive Talk with us Tuesday podcast from three different locations!  John and I sure enjoyed our conversation today with Mary Brier from the Kona Ice truck!  Mary has been transporting food donations from the First Presbyterian Church to the Main Kitchen at Holt High each weekday.  Her generosity has helped us distribute over 1800 bags of groceries so far!  If you would like to donate food on your way home from the grocery, the First Presbyterian Church lobby is open Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm.  Mary also accepts perishable food donations between 8:30am-9:30am each weekday at the church as well!  We will not be operating the Holt Public Food Bus April 6-10 due to the previously scheduled Spring Break, however, Mary and the Kona Ice truck will be delivering groceries. Watch our social media, the Peek at the Week and our website for details regarding accessing food during spring break!

Hey Holt Public,

 

We recorded our 179th consecutive podcast the morning of March 23, 2020 practicing social distancing protocols.  John joined Delhi Township Fire Chief, Brian Ball and I over the phone.  In honor of the social distancing protocols, Brian and I used as much microphone cable as possible and sat 8' apart!  To that end, we all shared some important information regarding our community, the Coronavirus, our remote food program, and ways to stay healthy.  With Executive Order 2020-21, we may need to record our next podcast exclusively over the phone...stay tuned!

Here is our 178th Talk with us Tuesday podcast.  Today, John and I reflected on how rapidly things are changing.  In one short week, we formed the Holt/Dimondale/Delhi Township Community Task Force, launched our Mobile Food Bus, and partnered with the Holt Community Food Bank!  We also discussed how we are cleaning our schools and buses and that our community deserves a wow, wow, super, wow for chipping in to help clean up the outside of our buildings and for donating to our Mobile Food Bus!  Sit back, turn up the volume and enjoy listening to our updates!  We appreciate you all, Holt Public!  Thanks for listening!  Enjoy!

Hey Holt Public! We had two awesome groups join us for our 176th consecutive Talk with us Tuesday Podcast this week! John and I enjoyed our conversation with members of the Holt Destination Imagination team and the Holt Robotics team! A tremendous number of Destination Imagination teams have qualified for the State competition on March 28 and our Holt Robotics team will be competing in Milford this weekend and in Mason on March 21! The future looks bright, Holt Public! Our students definitely deserve a wow, wow, super, wow!

Hey Holt Public!

John and I sure enjoyed our conversation today with the 2019 Michigan Sheriff of the Year, Mr. Tom Reich.  We learned a great deal about the innovative programs that are being implemented by the Eaton County Sheriff's Office!  Fun fact...Sheriff Reich graduated from Holt Public and the football team he played on was undefeated and unscored on!  In addition, the entire team has been inducted into the Greater Lansing Hall of Fame!  Finally, John and I shared some important information regarding the Township and the District, respectively.

Hey Holt Public!  Although we are on Mid-Winter Break this week, John and I enjoyed our conversation with the Delhi Township Environmental Coordinator, Mr. Allen Bryant.  Allen discussed the Scrappy Program.  Our schools collect food waste and share it with the Township. In return, the Township turns the food waste into energy!  The program, which started in 2012 at Horizon is now being implemented at all of our schools!  Check back with us periodically as we report on how much energy we have produced!  Our partnership with Delhi Township is strong!  This is another excellent example of our collaboration!  In addition, John and I shared some information regarding the Township and the District, respectively.
